You manage your contacts in the Contacts App. Contacts can be for family, friends, business acquaintances, or anyone you need to keep in touch with.
They are central to your use of Facetime, Phone, email and I message. And potentially other 3rd party apps like Facebook and Facebook messenger. thus, they are something you need to understand right from the start.
